A page from a collage book in red white and black

Last weekend I started work on a collage book (“gluebook”) built on the wrappers that Ace Hardware sells lawnbags in. It’s nice tough kraft paper that cuts down cleanly into pages and takes a crisp fold. I worked on some of the pages before sewing the book and then continued after sewing. I don’t need to worry that the pages will tear while I am working on them.

Gluebooks are good for preserving scraps and finds that you don’t want to lose track of and are good convasses for experimenting. I unified the backgrounds by printing each page with white acrylic on bubblewrap. Now I’ll continue stenciling, scribbling, printing, stamping and so forth until I feel like I’m done.
