Two small collages of a black pot and basin (painting)

On a road trip to Lexington, Virginia, I got the chance to browse a used book bin where I found an exhibition catalog of contemporary Latin American art from an show sponsored in the 1980s by Canadian Club.

Never mind the time I spent wondering who “the Canadian Club” were.

These two small collages are in a small format, 2.5 by 3.5 inches, the size of an “artist trading card.” ATCs are an online phenomenon to me, but I gather that people sometimes meet and swap. The idea is to make art you can give away, in exchange for more art. So when you get an idea, it’s good to make two.

Slick paper is hard to add to, but the artful aqua smudges show that it will take a little acrylic paint.
